Mercy Ministries Receives Generous Donation
LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Mercy Ministries of Laredo received a generous donation of $10,000 on Thursday morning.
The funds were donated by the Molina Healthcare of Texas and will go towards opening up a community store in the clinic where clients can have access to free toiletries and every day necessities.
State Representative Richard Pena Raymond helped introduce Molina to Mercy Ministries in order to provide funding to a program he says will go a long way.
Mercy Clinic Director of Outreach Sister Rosemary Welsh says the funds are going to go towards a great cause.
Welsh says, "The money will be able to be used to respond to the needs of the patients that come to us. What's nice about this is that the sisters of Mercy have never said we do the ministry by ourselves, it's another example of our collaboration with other people."
Mercy Ministries does not receive any direct funding from the federal or state government and relies solely on the generosity of the community and other organizations.
